On Saturday, Aylesbury Knights Under 13s came up against a Medway Dragons team who were a much bigger side. This was the first game of Rugby League for a number of the Knights team and it took them a while to get into the game. Unfortunately, during this period, the Dragons ran in a number of tries and it was not until half way through the first half that Aylesbury managed to make their first impression on the game, with Ed Mawdsley bursting through and scoring.
Aylesbury managed to complete a couple of sets and in the second half also applied enough pressure to force a few errors from the visitors. As the second half reached it’s midway point it was clear that the Knights team were starting to relish the harder prop work in the middle of the pitch as once again they pushed up through the middle of the park to set up another try for Ed Mawdsley.
By the end of the game, though well beaten 56 - 10, the Aylesbury Knights should be proud of the way they kept in the game and kept their concentration at the beginning of what promises to be a very steep learning curve.
